I'm also a Salesforce administrator and business analyst, book-lover, Starbucks iced tea addict, and Real Housewives fangirl. When I'm not binge-watching housewives, I'm probably listening to 80's music and helping women start new careers in Salesforce.
I'm a multi-passionate entrepreneur and my obsessions are tech and real estate.
So, I joined the family business, which was real estate appraising. After a few years, I started my own appraisal business and ran it for over 20 years. I worked from home (perfect for self-motivated introverts like me) while I raised my daughters. When the real estate market collapsed in Las Vegas in 2007, I got my real estate license and started working with investors. Knowing how to value property became my secret weapon with investors who wanted to fix and flip properties. They made real estate investing look so interesting (and lucrative). So a few years later, my husband and I started investing in real estate too. We've spent too many weekends to count fixing up houses and apartment buildings. Now my husband builds custom homes, so I don't have to get as dirty, and I get to pick out all the interior finish items, which is a dream come true. I no longer perform appraisals or work with investors, but I use my number crunching skills every day in our own real estate deals. And I believe that real estate investing is one of the best opportunities for people to build wealth. But it's more of a get-rich-slow kind of deal.
But I didn't start out that way...
My childhood dream was to be a doctor. I've got the (useless?) biology degree to prove it. Even though that path didn't open up to me, I still use all my science-y knowledge to kick-ass on the green questions in trivial pursuit.
Once I learned about Salesforce jobs, I wanted to shout it from the rooftops.
So I did! My daughter, who is also a Salesforce admin, and I started an education company that teaches aspiring Salesforce admins how to get certified and start new careers. We also run a successful Salesforce freelance business that helps women-owned businesses grow their customer base, make more sales and streamline their processes so they can focus on the things they do best.
Around 2014, I decided to build a website for my real estate business. For fun. And because I'm a type-a, all-or-nothing person, I went down a deep rabbit hole researching the options. That led me to Skillcrush and learning to code.
AHHHHH...THE CODING LOVE AFFAIR
Coding fed my analytical brain and I was hooked.
I liked it so much that I decided to transition out of real estate appraising and into tech. Then one day, I was listening to the ChooseFI podcast, and I heard them talking about Salesforce careers. It sounded too good to be true. Three months of training and you start your new career. I dove in head-first, getting certified as an administrator and then as a business analyst. A spark was ignited and I fell in love with this new career. When I stumbled on Salesforce, I realized I could combine my love of tech and real estate by using Salesforce to build business solutions in the real estate industry.
Salesforce careers are an incredible opportunity for people to get ahead. Starting salaries are above $70,000 and they can save their disposable income to purchase a home, which is the first step to becoming a real estate investor.
